Kosciusko Water & Woodland Invasive Partnership
Local CISMA Formed and Ready to Combat Invasive Species
A new organization has been formed, whose purpose is to “build community support to protect the land and water in Kosciusko County from non-native invasive species”. Kosciusko Water & Woodland Invasive Partnership (KWWIP), the newly formed CISMA (Cooperative Invasive Species Management Areas), has received its non-profit status and will soon be conducting a membership drive.
KWWIP was organized with the help of SICIM (Southern Indiana Cooperative Invasives Management), The Watershed Foundation, Kosciusko County Soil and Water Conservation District, and The Lily Center for Lakes and Streams. The Kosciusko County Soil and Water Conservation District has provided matching funds to the grant that is financing this initiative and has been an active supporting agency throughout the process.
KWWIP’s Goals
Take Action to Protect Natural Resources
Determine Extent of Local Invasive Species Problems
Increase Citizen Awareness
